Advanced Packaging Systems for the International Customer

Palomar is an international advanced
microelectronic packaging and assembly system manufacturer. With customers in
over 50 countries and even more languages to go with it, it’s vital that our
headquarters in Carlsbad, CA reflects and supports that international reach.
As a native Swiss with Swiss-German as my first language and English my second,
my language skills and knowledge of European culture and customs are
particularly important. As the Product Marketing Specialist, I handle
import/export compliance at Palomar Technologies Inc., USA.
A brief
overview of how international orders and shipments are handled:
international orders are set up with our internal Export Management
System, which shows our full compliance to the EAR. Every international
customer is screened so that full compliance can be established and only then
will an international shipment leave our doors. Palomar’s wire bonders and
component attach systems are shipped via air and are only to be picked up and
delivered with an air ride equipped van, to make sure that our sensitive
equipment is received by our valued customer in good order. To ensure our
customers’ systems arrive safely, I work very closely with our assigned freight
forwarder for our imports and exports. In doing this, I’ve been able to
establish great relationships. These relationships are VITAL to international
shipping – our freight forwarding partners are prepared to clear customs and
store our products if the need arises.
